Gardai in Dublin are appealing for information regarding an attempted post office robbery yesterday.

Gardai in Dublin are appealing for information regarding an attempted post office robbery yesterday.

The incident happened at 1.30pm at Raheny Post Office in the north of the city.

The post master answered a knock to the front door of his house, which adjoins the post office.

He was confronted by two armed men who forced their way into the house.

One raider held the post master and his wife at gun point.

The second raider unlocked the post office but set off the alarm, forcing both raiders leave the scene.

There were no injuries and nothing was taken.
