Splinter LVF blamed for attack on house

The splinter Loyalist Volunteer Force was today being blamed for a bomb attack on a Catholic family’s home in Northern Ireland.

Security sources believe the loyalist grouping carried out the attack in which a blast-type device exploded at the front door of a house in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

A security source told PA News: “It’s an LVF-run town. This kind of attack is right up their street. They pick on an easy target.”

But a source close to the group denied it was involved: “It is a lot of nonsense. There was no reason or logic to it.”

Earlier, the Ulster Defence Association denied that it carried out the attack.
