Govt proposes legislation to prevent accounting scandals

The Government has announced plans to introduce new legislation designed to prevent Enron-style accounting practices from happening in Ireland.

The proposed Companies Bill would establish an independent statutory body, the Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority, to regulate the accounting industry in Ireland.
