Govt to launch consultation on disability
The Government is to launch a two-month consultation process to generate proposals for the provision of services for the disabled.
People with disabilities and their families, providers and state agencies are taking part in the process, designed to set national standards of care and service.
The new standards and services will be phased in from October this year after agreement between the Department of Health and stakeholders.
Mary Van Lieshout from the National Disability Authority says that there are a number of key issues that need to be looked at.
She says that many people with disabilities in Ireland live in full time care residences and the consultation will address where they live.
