McDowell announces recruitment of 350 new Gardai

The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has announced the recruitment of 350 new Gardai.

The cabinet has approved a special exemption on a public service recruitment ban, although it falls well short of the 2000 extra gardai promised in the coalition's programme for Government.
