Gardai in Dublin have named the 40-year-old man who was shot dead in south Dublin last night as Raymond Sallinger, from Eugene Street.

Mr Sallinger died in hospital after being shot in the head and chest in a pub off Clanbrassil Street in Dublin 8 shortly before 10pm.

The gangland-style killing was carried out by a two masked men, one armed with a handgun, who fled the scene in a black car.
