The former head of the PSNI Special Branch in Belfast has claimed that he was forced out of his job for investigating alleged IRA intelligence gathering at Stormont.

Former superintendent Bill Lowry, who retired from the force late last year, has claimed that MI5 pressured him not to investigate alleged IRA spying, not to make any arrests in connection with the matter and to leave room for Sinn Fein to deny involvement.
