More Irish people holidaying at home

The tourism body, Bord Failte, has said that more Irish people than ever are choosing to spend more time at home.

According to the organisation weekend break offers in Ireland have as much to offer as jetting across to London or Paris and special Irish events like golf, racing and sailing are luring us in ever increasing numbers.

Bord Failte Chief Executive Niall Reddy said the huge range of offers in Ireland explains why more of us than ever are choosing to stay at home.

"Not only are there great offers in terms of monetary values, but there's also a huge range of offers to suit all ages and all tastes. And I think with that product range that we have in Ireland, that there will always be a big market for holidays in Ireland by our own people."
