The first Irish baby of the new year was born in Limerick this morning just 30 seconds after midnight.

The first Irish baby of the new year was born in Limerick this morning just 30 seconds after midnight.

The baby boy was born to Patricia and John Waters at Limerick Regional Maternity Hospital.

He is the couple's 17th child.
