Post van stolen, set alight in Drogheda

Gardaí in Drogheda arrested two men yesterday evening after a post office van was stolen in the town.

The van was stolen at 4pm when a postman was making deliveries at the Dyer Street. Two men jumped into the van and sped off.

Gardaí were alerted and found the van was, on fire, at King Williams Glen, Tullyallen, Drogheda.

Two men were observed leaving the scene, and after a chase through fields, two men were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Both are expected to appear at a Special District Court sitting today.

The post van was completely destroyed. Its contents have not yet been fully established.
