An Taisce seeks inquiry into planning irregularities

The An Taisce environmental organisation has called for an independent investigation of alleged planning irregularities in Leitrim and Meath.

The body said the local authorities in both counties have failed to make lists of planning applications available to the public within time limits contained in the Planning Act.

An Taisce said this oversight means the legality of all planning decisions made by the county councils since the introduction of the act is now in doubt. However, Leitrim County Council insisted that it has always complied with the law.
