Family members killed in fire are named

The three members of a family killed in a fire earlier today in Dundalk, Co Louth, have been named.

39-year-old Eddie Walls and his two daughters, three-year-old Theresa and 18 month-old Natasha, died in the fire which broke out overnight.

Their home went up in a blaze at 1am in the Castleross estate.

The girl's mother managed to escape the blaze as neighbours attempted to intervene and save members of the family before firefighters arrived but the fire was too strong.

A team from the Garda Technical Bureau is now examining the scene.
