Dublin Airport workers to step up CityJet protests
Workers at Dublin Airport are due to mount a blockade tonight as part of their campaign to show solidarity with CityJet Handling staff.
The Dublin Airport Workers Network said it will block a ramp used by CityJet to get catering equipment and freight onto aircraft.
The blockade is part of a long-running dispute that began when CityJet workers in Dublin went on strike in pursuit of improved pay and union recognition. The company refused their demands and the DAWN has vowed to continue disrupting CityJet operations until management enters proper negotiations.
DAWN spokesperson Clare Daly said tonight's action is "designed to send a clear signal to companies which are determined to use anti-union, low-wages companies to drive down the wages for the rest of us that this will not be accepted".
