Tony Blair warned republicans today that they could not pursue a 'dual strategy' of combining paramilitary activity with membership of the power-sharing executive in Northern Ireland.

Following crisis talks in Downing Street with Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams, the British prime minister said there was still an “unacceptable” level of paramilitary activities by republicans.
