The interim report of the inquiry into the retention of children’s organs by Irish hospitals has sparked a negative reaction from more than 2,000 parents.

The Parents for Justice support group is angry at the slow progress of the Dunne Inquiry and was incensed when its report, published yesterday, found that doctors and hospitals have not fully co-operated.

Spokeswoman Fionnula O’Leary said: “While the inquiry was of the opinion that the co-operation is encouragingly high, they also conceded that there has not been 100% co-operation from hospitals and from individuals within those institutions and, from our point of view, that’s a matter of grave concern.”
