Civil servant representatives are today meeting in Dublin to discuss what they consider to be a weak recommendation made in the benchmarking report.

The Civil and Public Service Union maintain that the 9% increase in pay that was recommended for their sector is not sufficient.

The union say that they may refer the report to the Equality Authority on the grounds that lower civil servants are mainly female and higher are male.

They want increases allotted in line with higher-ranking workers who received a 13% rise.
