Under the proposed new legislation, senior gardai would have the power to form an opinion based on a report from a tribunal of inquiry and the High Court would have the authority to inspect the affairs of an individual or company suspected of corruption.

The proposed Corruption Assets Bureau would also be empowered to adjust the value of assets obtained through corruption into current-day values.
