Byrne: Nice Treaty benefits women

EU Commissioner David Byrne has claimed that women throughout the European Union will benefit if the Irish people vote ‘yes’ to the Nice Treaty.

Mr Byrne said ratification of the treaty will also allow women from EU applicant countries to experience the gains Irish women have achieved over the past 30 years.

Mr Byrne is due to make his case for the Nice Treaty at a special session of the Forum on Europe in Dublin tonight.
