Gardaí investigate Waterford sex abuse allegations
Gardaí in Waterford have begun an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against a number of brothers at St Michael’s Centre on the outskirts of the city.
A number of people have been questioned in connection with the claims, but nobody has been charged.
The alleged abuse occurred at the centre in Belmont Park between the mid 1960s and 1990.
Gardaí said their investigation is at an early stage.
St Michael’s closed 12 years ago and was replaced by a facility for adults with intellectual disabilities.
