Shannon protest passes peacefully
A protest at Shannon airport has passed off peacefully.
150 people, including representatives from the Green Party and the Peace and Neutrality Alliance confronted officials at the airport this afternoon, but were refused entry.
The groups are calling for a stop to US military planes' refueling at Shannon.
The Government is in breach of the constitution, they say, because allowing the planes to refuel here compromises our neutrality.
A Hercules military cargo plane landed at the airport during the protest but there were no incidents.
