‘No to Nice’ says treaty will create two-tier Europe

The "No to Nice" group has launched its campaign for a ‘no’ vote in the upcoming re-run of the Nice Treaty referendum.

The "No to Nice" group has launched its campaign for a ‘no’ vote in the upcoming re-run of the Nice Treaty referendum. The group said today that the controversial treaty, which was rejected by 54% of the Irish electorate in June 2001, will create a two-tier Europe, with first- and second-class member states.

Justin Barrett, the group’s main spokesman, claimed that the Irish Government and the governments of countries hoping to join the EU have been misled by the "Nice or nothing" mantra being repeated by pro-Nice advocates.
