Stevens Inquiry uncovers further plans to target solicitors
The British police investigating alleged collusion in the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane have reportedly discovered that the UDA was also planning to murder two other solicitors.
The Guardian newspaper said that in both cases, the RUC and the British army were aware of the plans, but failed to warn the solicitors.
The two in question are the late Patrick McGrory, who represented the families of three IRA members shot dead by the SAS in Gibraltar, and Oliver Kelly, who also represented suspected IRA members.
The Stevens Inquiry is due to present details of the plans to target these men to retired Canadian judge Peter Cory, who was appointed by the Irish and British Governments to investigate six cases of alleged official collusion in paramilitary murders, including the killing of Pat Finucane.
