Lowry questioned at Moriarty Tribunal over letters

Disgraced former Minister Michael Lowry is facing questions at the Moriarty Tribunal about two new documents, which suggest a plot to hide his involvement in a controversial property deal in Britain.

The Tipperary TD denies instructing his former solicitor to draw up false documents for the tribunal.

Council for the Tribunal, Gerry Healy, is taking the former Communications Minister through two letters, new longer versions of which have been uncovered by the tribunal.

Mr Lowry said he knew nothing about the new letters, which seem to connect him to the controversial deal, which in turn is linked to Denis O'Brien.

The Tipperary TD also vehemently denied instructing his then solicitor in England to draw up both documents for the tribunal in order to hide his involvement.

Justice Moriarty has also revealed today former Taoiseach Charles Haughey will face further investigations.
