11 Irish areas to participate in European Car-Free Day

Eleven Irish towns and cities are lined up to participate in this year’s European Car-Free Day on September 22.

Eleven Irish towns and cities are lined up to participate in this year’s European Car-Free Day on September 22.

The confirmed locations are Dublin city, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kilkenny, Waterford, Portlaoise, Dun Laoghaire, Greystones, Newcastlewest, and south Dublin.

Traffic in these areas will be limited to public transport, bicycles, pedestrians and specially exempt vehicles.

There will also be free bus travel in Dublin between 1pm and 6pm.

Left-wing activists including environmentalists, trade unionists and anti-capitalists are also planning a Reclaim the Streets party in Dublin to coincide with the occasion.
