Councillors accept Kerry Jeannie Johnston offer

Kerry county councillors have voted to accept food giant Kerry Group’s offer to sponsor the controversial Jeannie Johnston famine ship project.

Under the initiative, the project will receive an additional €600,000 in funding.

The Jeannie Johnston has already cost more than €12m to construct and will need roughly €1.5m to realise its original aim of sailing from Ireland to North America.
