Appleby to seek access to Ansbacher documents today
The Director of Corporate Enforcement is going to the High Court today to seek access to certain documents, which he hopes will aid in prosecuting some of those named in the Ansbacher report.
Paul Appleby wants to be given some of the High Court Inspector's papers which were not published at the weekend.
It is hoped that these may be of benefit in taking legal action against at least some of those named in the report for breaches of the Company Act.
However, Mr Appleby has already conceded it will be difficult.
Another step he will take in the coming weeks is an application for the recovery of the costs of this inquiry.
€3.2m is the price tag to date, but the director says the taxpayer should not suffer further loss because of the behaviour described in the Ansbacher report.
