A post mortem examination has taken place in Limerick this afternoon on the body of an elderly man who died in an accident in Co Clare yesterday evening.

A post mortem examination has taken place in Limerick this afternoon on the body of an elderly man who died in an accident in Co Clare yesterday evening.

The 79-year-old man died after he was struck on the head by a tree branch while he was clearing trees near his home in Meelick close to Ardnacrusha.

The man was rushed to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
