Maskey to commemorate Battle of the Somme

The first Sinn Fein lord mayor of Belfast, Alex Maskey is to break with republican tradition and lay a wreath at city hall in Belfast on Monday, to commemorate the Battle of the Somme.

Mr Maskey, who is asking for a civic debate on how to commemorate the dead of the First World War, will not be taking part in the military ceremony.
