Soldiers refused screening at Saville inquiry
The Bloody Sunday Tribunal in Derry has refused an application by two British soldiers for the right to be screened from public view when they testify at the inquiry.
A lawyer had claimed that republican paramilitaries could recruit a portrait artist to sketch the two, Soldiers H and 104, when they testify in London later this year.
However, tribunal chairman Lord Saville said the current security assessment did not merit such a move.
Soldier H is regarded as one of the central figures on Bloody Sunday. He fired a total of 22 shots during the 1972 atrocity, 19 of which have never been satisfactorily accounted for.
