Flights delayed by technical fault
Flights from Ireland to Britain and Europe are experiencing delays of up to five hours today following technical problems at Britain’s air traffic control centre.
Some flights between Dublin and Britain have already been cancelled because of the problems and passengers travelling from London to Cork are facing delays of around five hours.
The computer problems at the Swanick air traffic control centre caused knock-on effects in all London airports, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
Officials in Swanick said the problems have now been solved, but the Irish Aviation Authority said it could be up to three hours before the backlog is cleared.
