Crowds gather for ‘Reclaim the Streets’ protest

Crowds have gathered outside Pearse Street Garda station for this evening's protest by the “Reclaim the Streets” Group.

This demonstration is the first by the group since Monday nights violent clashes with the Gardaí.

A smaller crowd than expected has gathered.

‘Just say sorry’ has be written in chalk on the steps just outside the station and Gardai have removed squad cars and put up control barriers in anticipation of any repeat of the violence.

The mood seems calm and Gardai are keeping their presence very low key.
