The newly-elected leader of the Progressive Unionist Party, the group linked to the Ulster Volunteer Force, says that there is little chance that the UVF will surrender their weapons.

David Ervine, who was today elected unopposed as leader of the PUP, said that members of his community had yet to be convinced that republicans were fully behind the peace process, despite the announcement this week that the IRA have made a second act of disarmament.
