Aquatic centre report to be published today
The Government is today expected to publish the Attorney General’s report into the controversy surrounding the national aquatic centre in Abbotstown.
The report will be presented to the cabinet today and is expected to be published, along with the responses of the key players, some time afterwards. The cabinet is also expected to formally agree to divide the roles of Campus Stadium Ireland chief executive and chairman, both of which are currently held by former civil servant Paddy Teahon.
The publication of the Attorney General’s report today is expected to re-ignite the controversy, which erupted when it emerged that a dormant company had led the successful bid for the contract to operate the aquatic centre.
The Dail’s public accounts committee quizzed Mr Teahon about the matter on two occasions last week, but he is expected back before the committee today once the report is published. The public accounts committee has not yet seen the Attorney General’s report and has therefore not questioned Mr Teahon about its findings or recommendations.
