Harney/McDaid in further Stadium Ireland talks

Moves have been made to wind up the company at the centre of the National Aquatic Centre controversy, according to reports this morning.

Moves have been made to wind up the company at the centre of the National Aquatic Centre controversy, according to reports this morning.

It’s believed an application was made to the British company's office last Wednesday, the same day its involvement in the development was revealed.

Tanaiste Mary Harney is said to be very unhappy about the recent revelations and held two lengthy telephone conversations with the Minister for Sport Jim McDaid yesterday.

The two are to have further talks on the issue later today.

Despite the apparent disagreement between the coalition partners over Sports Campus Ireland, last night the Taoiseach told the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis that Stadium Ireland will go ahead.

The row centres on the fact that one of the companies involved in the development of the aquatic facility was dormant.

Dr McDaid has already criticised the board of Sports Campus Ireland and said he wants to see a management shake-up.
