Ahern urges voters to support referendum

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has urged voters to support the Government’s proposed constitutional amendment, which he insisted will protect the lives of women, children and unborn babies.

Mr Ahern described the Government’s proposal as "good and honest" and said it deals with the complexities which have surrounded the abortion debate for many years.
