High Court challenge to abortion referendum

A legal attempt to halt the abortion referendum is to be heard in the High Court today.

Patrick Doherty of Cootehill, Co Cavan claims that Article 46 of the Constitution is being improperly activated in the proposed referendum on March 6.

Article 46 deals with the nature by which amendments to the constitution can be made.
