The official search for the three people missing off the Co Down coast has been called off.

Locals will continue to search for the three generations of the Greene family.

Michael Greene, his son and his eight-year-old grandson disappeared last Thursday after leaving Kilkeel Harbour to go fishing for prawns.

The weather was calm at the time which has sparked speculation that their fishing trawler may have been struck by a larger vessel near Warrenpoint.

An intensive air and sea search has been underway since Thursday night but authorities have now officially called off their search.

However, the coastguard will continue to assist the local community to search the area about five miles from the harbour.
