200 and 500 euro notes hit the streets

The Central Bank has begun to release 200 and 500 euro notes into circulation.

The higher denomination notes are set to swell further the total value of euro in public hands, which at €2.9bn has already outstripped the outgoing Irish pound value of €2.7bn.
