Man arrested in connection with Limerick murder

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Gardai following the murder of a woman in a hotel in Limerick City.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Gardai following the murder of a woman in a hotel in Limerick City.

The body of the 24-year-old, Grainne Dillon, originally from Cork City, was discovered in the kitchens of the Jury’s Inn hotel.

The murder victim was a member of the management staff at the hotel and the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, has carried out a preliminary examination of the body, which has indicated that she was shot.

It was originally believed that the woman had been stabbed to death but Gardai have confirmed that they have recovered a shotgun.

Gardai are detaining the man for questioning at Henry St garda station.
