Flood Tribunal seeks help
Labour is calling for the Government to appoint people from outside the judiciary as the additional members of the Flood Tribunal.
It has been six months since the only member, Justice Flood, requested two additional members and a substitute to help him with the excessive workload.
However, the Government has so far been unable to find suitable or willing judges for the positions.
Labour spokesman on the environment and local Government, Eamonn Gilmore, said he thinks the Government should look urgently in other directions as there is no requirement that the appointed members of the Tribunal have to judges.
