Nun's funeral to be held today

The funeral of Sister Philomena Lyons takes place in Ballybay, Co Monaghan later this morning.

The President Mary McAleese may join mourners at the funeral of Sister Philomena at noon today.

The 68-year-old nun was sexually assaulted and murdered on the grounds of Saint Joseph’s Sacred Heart Nursing Home, last Saturday.

She had lived there for over 40 years.

Gardai have again appealed for information from anyone in the Ballybay area that may have given a lift to a hitchhiker on Saturday evening.
