Four charged over bank raid bid

Four men were charged tonight in connection with an attempted bank raid in Abbeyleix that ended in the death of a detective, accidentally shot by a colleague.

The four accused were remanded in custody until next Thursday at a special District Court sitting at Portlaoise, Co Laois.
