No planning permission required for phone companies

The Minister for the Environment Noel Dempsey is introducing new regulations, which would allow phone companies to put up masts without planning permission.

It would mean that mobile phone masts could be erected on schools, garda stations and other public places with no community control.

Fine Gael spokesperson on the environment, Eamon Gilmore, is accusing Noel Dempsey of bowing to the pressure of big business.
