Minister for Agriculture to attend WTO meeting

The Minister for Agriculture and the Junior Trade Minister are in Qatar today for the latest World Trade Organisation meeting.

Joe Walsh and Tom Kitt join the international delegation in the capital Doha to try to draw up an agenda for a new round of global trade talks.

Minster Walsh said he would be working to protect export subsidies for Irish farmers.

The last WTO meeting, in Seattle in 1999, ended without agreement and was marred by large-scale anti-capitalist demonstrations, which broke into violent clashes with riot police.
