Former government minister Ray Burke has admitted to the Flood Tribunal that he destroyed a mass of documents in June 1997, but he denied that any of these were financial records.

Mr Burke said he shredded documents relating to constituency matters after the general election in summer 1997 and prior to his resignation the following autumn.
