Hazardous hospital waste found dumped illegally

Hazardous waste from four Dublin hospitals has been found dumped illegally at a site in Co Wicklow.

The items found at the dump include, used body-fluid bags, used tubing from operations, blood-soaked bandages and used gloves.

By law, these items are supposed to be incinerated because of the risk of them spreading diseases.

Confidential patient records were also discovered among the waste.

Wicklow County Council said the dump has been sealed off pending technical examination.
