Nenagh Hospital covered up overcrowding - Lowry
Independent TD Michael Lowry has accused officials at Nenagh General Hospital of covering up the problem of overcrowding during the Taoiseach’s visit yesterday.
Mr Lowry claimed the hospital authorities removed all beds from corridors in the hours leading up to Bertie Ahern’s visit. “The night before Bertie Ahern visited the hospital, I personally witnessed several beds on the corridor,” Mr Lowry said.
“Then the morning of Bertie’s visit yesterday, the beds were wheeled off the corridor and the last bed was removed 10 minutes before he arrived at the hospital.
After he left the hospital, the corridor was again overcrowded.” Nurses at the nearby St Joseph’s Hospital in Clonmel began a work-to-rule today in protest at a similar overcrowding problem in their workplace.
