Anti-terrorism measures to be introduced in Europe
The European Union looks set to form a new Anti-Terrorist squad as it steps up its part on the international war on terrorism.
The new move is just one of a range of suggestions that were agreed upon in principle in this afternoon’s meeting of the EU Justice Ministers in Brussels.
The meeting was scheduled to discuss how the EU should proceed in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks in the United States.
Other measures include the ability to issue EU-wide arrest warrants and the issue of introducing a common sentencing structure across all member states.
The Irish Minister for Justice, John O Donoghue, says that a point of no return has now been reached.
