European Union to observe three-minute silence

The European Union will observe a three-minute silence at 11am today as a mark of respect for the thousands of people who died in Tuesday’s attacks on New York and Washington.

All schools and banks in Ireland are closed, while many shops and businesses have also decided to shut their doors.
