FMD scare cost £11m in lost betting
More than £11m was lost in betting on horse racing because of the foot-and-mouth scare.
The Irish Horse Racing Authority says the crisis caused serious difficulties for the industry but they're planning extra fixtures to account for the lost fixtures.
The IHA have today released record annual results for the year 2000 which show that, in general, the industry is performing well.
Martin Moore, chief executive of the IHA, says that confidence is now being restored after the FMD crisis.
